7 Food Photography Tips by Rick Poon

06.03.14

Periodic skin examinations https://africarx.co.za/buy-brand-levitra-south-africa.html should be considered for all patients at increased risk for skin cancer. In many cases Adderall XR should not be combined with other medications unless approved by a physician.

Food photography is main stream in our feed these days. It seems to be the most common interest

that people have about sharing. And taking a good food photo with your phone isn’t easy.

Here are 7 best tips I’ve seen and learned from the very best Rick Poon (Los Angeles photographer).
His feed always inspire me to take better food photos.
1. WINDOW LIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND.
“When making reservations or before seated, ask for a table or seat by the window.
The soft, diffused light will make just about anything look tasty. ”

2. SHOOT FROM ABOVE.
“The wide angle lens in most phones is ideal for shooting food from above.”

3. NOT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD FROM TOP-DOWN.
“Sometimes food looks better straight on or at a slight angle. When shooting a subject straight on,

try flipping your camera upside down so the camera is at the bottom of your phone,
instead of the top. This helps reduce the distortion caused by the wide angle lens.”

4. A LIGHT TOUCH IS BEST.
“Food looks less appetizing with stark, high-contrast filters. The VSCOcam app lets you adjust each
filters intensity for a natural look.” _@rick_poon (Los Angeles photographer)
5. VARY YOUR SHOTS.
“Photography is about telling a story. Share your entire experience by mixing food photos with interior/
exterior shots – walls, tables, chairs etc. A lively bar or an open kitchen is always great subject.

6. LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!
“Don’t be afraid to show people digging in. A busy scene is a happy scene.”
_@rick_poon (Los Angeles photographer)
7. BE SELECTIVE.
“You don’t have to post everything. If you have multiple shots of a subject, pick the best one.
If you’re not happy with a photo, don’t post it.” _@rick_poon (Los Angeles photographer)
FEW MORE TIPS FROM ME!
+ Try to picture your shot in your head before taking the picture. It will help you to shoot quickly

without holding the phone up too long.

+ Don’t mind what other people think about putting your phone up above the table or getting up
from the table to take a shoot. It’s going to look ridiculous anyways. 😛

Lap Swimmer’s Essentials

05.23.14
Summer is almost here…swimming season! Are you all geared up to jump in the pool, to hit the beach this summer? For lap swimmers like me, I’m sure swimming isn’t just for summer. We hit the pool all year-round and we swim to get our workout. I know lap swimmers tend to look serious, yeah, it looks almost as routine like getting on that treadmill. But who says we can’t look stylish in the pool, during our workout?! Here I have selected and pinned to my wishlist for my new swim season. These are what I called “Lap Swimmer’s Essentials”.
Do you have an item that’s on your must list when hitting the pool (indoor or outdoor)?
These are pretty much perfect for my body and my sensitive skin (eczema-suffering). They look great indoor, outdoor pool and even at the beach.
Make sure to invest in good googles. One that last a long time and that is fog-free!
I prefer lycra ones over rubber ones. They don’t feel too tight on my head and is comfortable.

Ever since I started using this, I never got those annoying swimmer’s ear. Water in my ear for days is the most annoying thing ever!

This cute sailer stripe zip bag is large enough to hold on these essential items so you don’t have to carry a separate gym bag when you need to go swim.
Definitely an essential if you are swimming outdoors. This light-weight waterproof sunscreens are the best! Make sure to apply to your face, top of your shoulders and your back as well before getting in the water.
Ok, are you laughing because I take my bath robe to my gym?
These are essential! I prefer to walk in my bath robe than my towel from the pool to shower!

“I swim because I can take my mind off of things. I can reach as far as I want, feeling completely free of worries. It takes work to get yourself in the water but once you do, there is no sweating, and in the end, you’re wrung out.”  – Don Draper (from MadMen Season 4)
